Meeker’s Treyvon “Duce”Compton – Football Spotlight – Presented by L.E.’s Burgers

Athletes at the high school level can have a number of people that they have as role models for their life. And the people that they look up to can range from a celebrity to someone that  is a part of their everyday life. Treyvon Compton says that his role model is a popular NFL quarterback.

“Patrick Mahomes is my role model,” he said. “I just like the way he plays, and not just how he plays football but also the way he is around kids and people. He’s a great person.”

Compton is a senior at Meeker High School. He is a multisport athlete for the Bulldogs, playing football, basketball, and golf.

Another person that has been an influence on his life has been his football coach, Allen Potts.

“Coach Potts is always keeping everyone to the best they can and he just keeps the locker room fun and makes us want to play football.”

Becoming the athlete that he is has required a lot of hard work and dedication from Compton. But he says that it has also taken more than just that.

“Praying and my parents and all my friends lifting me up to be my best and working on what I want everyday, that is what helped me.”

Throughout his career, Treyvon has made some great memories while competing alongside his teammates. But he has a couple that stand out.

“I think the highlight of my career so far would have to be throwing my first touchdown pass as a freshman,” he recalled. “Another would have to be when we beat Bethel last year. They did not like us and they talked the most, but we beat them.”

When he puts on his uniform for game day, Treyvon tries to be the representation of Meeker that he can be.

“What it means to me to represent my school is to have fun and make sure I go out on the field and make it fun to watch and make everyone happy in the hallways and be respectful,” he said.
