Q&A with Shawnee’s Darrius Irving – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Darrius: I am a freshman at Shawnee High School. I run cross country and track.

VYPE: What motivates you?

Darrius: Improving my personal record every track meet and wanting to win.

VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?

Darrius: Hardwork and dedication to the sport.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?

Darrius: Running 52 seconds as a freshman on the 4×4 relay.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?

Darrius: It means I have to try and prove to everyone that Shawnee has great runners, too.

VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most in practice?

Darrius: Ayden Ringwall because he pushes me to try my best and reach my limit, and even go past it.

VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models?

Darrius: My mommy because she supports me and pushes me to do my best, and also my older brother because he pushes me to be better than him.

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?

Darrius: Mr. Cooly, by making math way easier to understand.

VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?

Darrius: I also do band.
