Tecumseh’s Tara Lack – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Natalie Arnett-State Farm

Athletes invest a lot of time and effort so they can be at their best whenever it is time to compete. Tara Lack is a member of the Tecumseh High School tennis team and she says that along with the work, her teammates have been important to her progress.

“It has taken consistency, hard work, and dedication to be successful in tennis,” she said. “Showing up to practice every day no matter the weather condition or what I may feel like. Consistency is the key to success in most things, especially tennis. I enjoy working against my teammate Brodey the most because he arguably has more skill than me and pushes me to be the best player I can be. He isn’t afraid to correct me and help me approve.”

Tara is in her senior year of high school and along with tennis, she is also involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth Alive, student council, the National Honor Society, Leadership, and Link Crew.

Throughout her life, Lack has had two special women that have been vital to her becoming who she is today.

“My role models are my mom and my nana,” she said. “My mom has shown me all the qualities to have as a mom and a wife. I respect her a lot because of how she has handled difficulties in the past and I have seen how strong she is through these hard times. My nana is a big influence in my life because she has demonstrated what it means to be a follower of God and how to be selfless and patient. I look up to both of these women in my life and I hope to be the mom and nana to my kids how they have been to be.”

As an athlete from Tecumseh, Tara knows that she is playing for more than just herself. “Representing my school and community means playing with respect and integrity. Respect and integrity are crucial in tennis because you are your own referee while also playing. Being a leader on my team especially requires these traits to demonstrate to my teammates how to represent our school.”
