Lane Steward

Tecumseh High School

Tecumseh High School’s Lane Steward is not only a junior and a varsity baseball player, but he is a member of the FFA chapter as well.

Steward first joined FFA when he was in the 8th grade.

“My mom encouraged me to join,” said Steward. “I enjoy showing and judging livestock.”

Showing pigs is something Steward has had success with during his time in FFA. Showing and judging are two things Steward loves to do.

“Corey Pell has been a big influence in my life. He feeds for me and he has taught me the ins and outs of raising show pigs and has always been a great teacher to me and an extremely good livestock judging coach. He is helping me achieve my goal of one day judging livestock in college,” said Steward.

Steward has some great advice for other students who are interested in FFA.

“I would say to them that it opens up a lot of opportunities for you not just during high school but after as well, such as going to college and there are a lot of jobs that involve agriculture,” said Steward.

As for the baseball team? Steward and his teammates are ready to take the field and compete against a tough schedule.

“Our goal this year is to make a deep playoff run this year. I have improved a lot as a teammate this year,” said Steward.
