Creed Muirhead is a senior at Shawnee High School, and his experience with baseball goes beyond simple competition. It teaches valuable lessons about perseverance, leadership and aiming for success.
For Creed, baseball isn’t just a sport—it’s a metaphor for life. “Baseball has taught me that failure is a good thing,” he said, recognizing the invaluable lessons gleaned from setbacks and challenges. This mindset, he believes, is applicable not only on the field but in every aspect of life.
Fueling Creed’s passion for the game is the brotherhood he shares with his teammates—a bond forged through countless hours of practice, sweat and shared victories. It’s this camaraderie that drives him to continually push his limits and strive for greatness.
Drawing inspiration from MLB catcher J.T. Realmuto, Creed’s dedication to his craft is evident. “I love the way he plays the catcher position,” he explained, highlighting his admiration for Realmuto’s skill and his Oklahoma roots.
Off the field, Creed finds mentorship and guidance from influential figures like his middle school teacher, Michelle Lanham, whose impact on his life has been profound. Equally influential are his parents, whose resilience and work ethic serve as a constant source of inspiration. “My mom showed me to be resilient,” Creed shared, reflecting on her triumphant battle against cancer. “Also, my dad because of his work ethic and discipline.”
On the diamond, Creed’s admiration extends to senior teammate Danny Campbell, whose exemplary work ethic and attention to detail have left a lasting impression. “He was always working,” Creed recalled, emphasizing the importance of diligence and dedication in the pursuit of success.
Beyond baseball, Creed finds joy in simple pleasures, like road trips with his teammates and savoring his dad’s signature chicken fried steak—a reminder of the importance of family and tradition.
As he looks towards the future, Creed remains grateful for the unwavering support of his family, friends and coaches, acknowledging their role in shaping him both as an athlete and as a man. With each swing of the bat and every game played, Creed Muirhead epitomizes the values of perseverance, humility and integrity.
