VYPE MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES THE 2023 SHELTER INSURANCE MISS
SOFTBALL AWARD WINNER: SERENITY JACOWAY FROM TECUMSEH
HIGH SCHOOL
TULSA, OK (December 12 th , 2023) – VYPE Magazine and Shelter Insurance are proud to
announce the winner of the Miss Softball Oklahoma Award, Serenity Jacoway of
Tecumseh High School. Jacoway becomes the sixth player to win the coveted award and
the first Miss Softball Oklahoma to represent Tecumseh High School.
The Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma Award recognizes the outstanding
athletic achievements of Serenity Jacoway and the high standards of athletic excellence
and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, which distinguishes Jacoway
as Oklahoma’s best high school softball player this season.
Jacoway finished a great season with Tecumseh High School by helping her team to a 32-
6 record and a No. 4 ranking in Class 4A. Under the leadership and guidance of head coach
Chad Trahan, Jacoway led her team to an outstanding season and was recognized for her
great season by being selected for the 2023 Middle East All-State team.
On the season, Jacoway carried a .490 batting average with, 36 runs, 54 hits, 14 doubles, 3
home runs and 19 RBIs. From the circle, Jacoway finished the season with 21 wins and
only four loses. In 136.2 innings pitched, Jacoway recorded 158 strikeouts with an ERA of
1.59. She also threw six no-hitters. Jacoway is committed to play for the University of
Texas-El Paso next fall.
VYPE Magazine Editorial Director Brad Heath said of Jacoway, “She’s as close to a
guarantee as you can get from the circle and will be a welcomed addition to the UTEP team.

Jacoway joins former Miss Softball award winners; Kenzie Donihoo of Mustang (2018),
Chloe Bohuslavicky of Piedmont (2019), Grace Anderson of Tishomingo (2020), Gabby
Higbee of Dewey (2021), and September Flanagan of Morrison (2022).
