Lacy Stafford is one busy junior. Not only is she a member of the varsity softball team at Meeker High School, she also plays basketball and is taking classes at Mid America Tech.
As a basketball player, Stafford is the type of player you would call versatile. She has the ability to play any spot on the floor. In softball, Stafford’s specialty is the outfield. From her fitness and strength training to her mental approach to the game, Stafford is always looking to get better.
“What I have improved on the most is my mindset,” Stafford said. “I enjoy working out in my free time. Working out gets me in good shape for not only the sports I play but I want to become a firefighter and getting in shape is a big thing.”
Stafford said she loves the support the student-athletes receive from the school, teachers, coaches, and parents. The same can be said for the instructors at Mid America Tech. Stafford alluded to her teammates being people she can count on.
“MHS is very good about working with the athletes and really helps you with your sport,” Stafford said. “My teammates will do anything for you.”
On the diamond, Stafford said the best advice she has received is one that she and her teammates take to heart and her biggest inspiration is close to home.
“Don’t freak out and just know to have fun,” Stafford said. ‘My mom and my dad are my two biggest inspirations.”
At Mid America Tech, Stafford is taking courses that will help her achieve her goals after high school. With graduation just a year away, Stafford is working hard to meet her goals and to eventually become a firefighter.
“I want to be a firefighter and have a small business,” she said.
