Maud Lady Tigers Slowpitch Softball Team – Presented By Granny’s House Home Day Care

Class A softball is a tough tiger to tame. The Lady Tigers of Maud High School are proving a tough out as well. Through the month of March, the Lady Tigers are 7-4 and ranked No. 11 overall.

Head coach Tyler Gensman took over this softball program at Maud this year and he is excited about what he is seeing from his players.

“The thing we’re looking forward to most of this new season is the girls pushing themselves to new limits,” said coach Gensman.

With victories over Stuart, New Lima, and three wins in the Weleetka tournament over Wewoka, Crowder and Weleetka, the Lady Tigers are proving they are a team to contend with this season.

Coach Gensman said the success the team has experienced this season has been a team effort.

“We have a good group of girls that individually are good but, man, they are great when they play as a team,” said Gensman.
The win over Stuart is significant because it shows Maud can compete and win against a team ranked in the top five. Stuart is currently ranked No. 2 in Class A. Red Oak, Kiowa, Hammon and Bennington round out the top five.

The schedule for the remainder of the season doesn’t get any easier for the Lady Tigers, but coach Gensman is confident his team will respond to the challenge.

“Every team is different but us just being able to pivot make changes on the fly to combat what the other team is throwing at us and to work our hearts out will be the difference,” said coach Gensman.

Starting in April, Maud will only have four home games, which means seven games will be on the road. Winning on the road will set this team up to compete come tournament time and if things continue to go their way, this team could be competing on the big stage.

The regular season will end on April 17th at Roff High School.
