Bethel’s Lilly Jordan – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Firelake Pizza

Track athletes use the season to make personal improvements on their times, how they run each race, and looks for ways to improve their technique, all prior to the regional meets and state meet. For Bethel High School’s Lilly Jordan, the season has allowed her to continue making those improvements while lowering her time on the track.

“My strength is I’m competitive, but what I’m most improved on is keeping my pace throughout the whole race,” said Jordan.

Now a junior at BHS, Jordan started competing in track when she was a freshman. Jordan currently competes in the 4X100, 4X200 relays and the 200-meter dash. The support Jordan and her teammates receive from the coaches, fans and parents is a motivating factor for everyone.

“It means so much to me because it’s what motivates me in my races,” Jordan said. “What I love most about my teammates is they are so supportive. Their support and kindness is inspiring.”

Jordan said the most difficult aspect of being a student-athlete is comparing herself to others. With a strong drive to compete, it’s easy to see how Jordan could be hard on herself, but she stays focused on and off the track and is looking forward to every competition where she gets to display her talent.

She looks to other professional athletes and D1 athletes who have traveled the same road she is on. Her hopes for the future include attending college for another sport.

“My plan for life after high school is to go to college for softball and then go into med school,” said Jordan.
