Landon Bowling
Seminole High School
What do you know about Seminole High School? Current junior, Landon Dowling, is following in the footsteps of former great Seminole High School graduates like Stewart “Smokey” Stover, who was a professional football player or Edmond Harjo who was a World War II code talker. Even the founder of Sonic, Troy Smith, is a former student at Seminole High School. Bowling wants to follow in their footsteps and do something great.
“I would say the best part of being a student-athlete at SHS is the pride that we all have about the school and all the sports we dedicate our time too,” said Bowling.
The junior is a member of the varsity baseball team and has played the sport since the 3rd grade. A pitcher and middle infielder for Seminole, Bowling believes in his teammates and what they are trying to accomplish as a group.
“What I like most about my teammates is their dedication to the team and how they push me to be better. We started off with a tough schedule, but we are going to get back on track going further into the season,” said Bowling.
The work never stops for Bowling. Pushing himself to be a better player and teammate is always the focus.
“I think I have improved a lot in my hitting since last year. I think the strength of my game is my consistency on the mound,” said Bowling.
Bowling said his teammates are great and they work hard to make the most of every opportunity presented to them.
“I would say Leo Zapata is a player to watch because he has one of the best work ethics I have seen in my high school career. Anytime I am working to get better he is right there with me,” said Bowling.
As for his future, Bowling said he would like to play at the next level.
“I want to go to college and further my education and play baseball at the next level,” said Bowling.
When he’s not in the middle of a game you can usually find him at the field taking ground balls or in a bullpen or hitting in a cage. I can’t stand to sit in the house,” said Bowling. When asked who the best player in Major League Baseball is, Bowling was quick to answer.
“I think the best player in the MLB is Shohei Ohtani because of how versatile he is,” said Bowling.
