Tecumseh High School newcomer Peyton Bays arrived this summer from Dale and immediately started working hard to help the basketball team and to show she is a serious player.

Bays started playing basketball when she was only four years old. Now she is combo guard playing shooting and point guard for Tecumseh. Bays said she has enjoyed working out with the team and meeting her new teammates.

“My favorite memory I have so far is when we went down to team camp in Durant I had a really fun experience at the casino we all stayed at, there was a movie theatre there and a swimming pool and I had so much fun experiencing that with them and playing ball down there,” said Bays.

Building relationships has been important for Bays and she hopes that translates to success on the court.

“What I love most about my teammates is that they always pick me up and always keep me going and they push me to be my best and when we are off the court, they are always making me laugh and make me happy. I’m so grateful that I get to be surrounded by this amazing group of girls my first year of high school. So far, they are making my year amazing I couldn’t ask for different teammates,” said Bays.

Bays said she enjoys the block schedule at THS and her favorite subject is history, but Bays said less homework equals less stress during the season.

“I could just have homework from about two classes it makes me life less stressful with always having after school practice and after school activities such as church,” said Bays.

One day Bays said she plans to attend college, play basketball and earn a degree and possibly work in Real Estate or business.
