TECUMSEH SAVAGES

Coach: Bryant Edwards

23-24 Record: 10-16

OUTLOOK

Every team will experience turnover at the end of each school year. The natural course of things. Teams like the Tecumseh Savages under head coach Bryant Edwards, embrace the opportunity to mentor, coach and work with the underclassmen to bring them up to varsity speed. Something coach Edwards believes will help them down the stretch of a long season.

“We return one started from last year’s team. We will be young, and inexperience only having one senior on the team. Hopefully by playoff time our young guys will have some experience and be seasoned for a playoff run,” said coach Edwards.

The senior making his return is Jackson Martin (6-1, Sr.). Martin will play one of the guard spots where he averaged 4.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists last year as a junior. Martin’s leadership will help this team mature and give the Savages a chance at making a run as the season moves forward.

While Martin is the senior leader, Aveon Stokes (5-9, Jr.) returns as the teams leading scorer. Stokes averaged 13 points, with 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. His numbers are crucial for the overall success of the team. Stokes can score going to the rim or hitting from outside.

Also look for Jekhi Owens (5-10, Jr.) at guard this season. Owens saw action last year and is ready to be one of the go-to guys on both ends of the court. Owens averaged 3.0 points with one rebound and assist. Expect those numbers to increase this season as Owens looks to take on a larger role in the offense and continue to play solid defense.
