2024-2025 McLoud Redskins Basketball – Presented by Magnolia Clinic

Coach: Tim Boyer

23-24 Record: 20-8

OUTLOOK

The Redskins are eager to get back on the court thanks to several key players making their return this season. Head coach Tim Boyer said this team is experienced and ready to take the next step.

“We are very excited for the upcoming 24-25 basketball season. We return four starters from last year’s team that won 20 games and made it to the Area Tournament for the second time in as many seasons. On offense we like to push the pace and try to score easy buckets in transition,” said Boyer.

Bryce Cowns (6-2, Sr.) averaged 19 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Cowns is approaching the 1,000-point mark for his career and currently holds two offers from OCU and Southwestern KS. Mason Craven (6-2, Sr.) is a transfer to McLoud and will be a weapon on the offensive end of the court. Craven can shoot at a high level and play intelligent defense. Craven has an offer from Nelson University in Texas.

Castin Schafer (6-3, Jr.) is a forward who averaged a double-double last season with 10.7 points and 10 rebounds. Schafer is tenacious on the boards and tough when he’s one-on-one in the paint. Shaun Hill (6-1, Sr.) joins Schafer at forward where he averaged 6.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

Look for Zaylun Matlock (5-9, Jr.) at guard where he averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 assists per game. Matlock and transfer student Harrison Mardis (5-11, Jr.) are two guards that add depth to the backcourt and will give coach Boyer quality minutes on the floor.

Other players to watch include Travis Hager (5-9, Sr.), Ladamien Williams (6-3, Jr.), Phoenix Lopez (6-2, Fr.), Kanyen Dewitt (6-3, Sr.), Eli Nemecek (6-1, Fr.), and Kingston Trevino (6-1, Fr.).
