OUTLOOK
The Class 2A champions are back and looking solid with several starters back for head coach Andy Powell. “We return with seven starters back. Have a good chance to compete for another title if we can stay healthy,” said Powell. A big reason for the optimism centers around the return of Kinsley Hill (P, Sr.) on the bump. Hill pitched 125 innings last year with 215 strikeouts and an ERA of only .447. Hill came through at the plate hitting .350 on the season. Her play alongside a great defense behind her makes it tough to score runs about the Pirates. Kinley Patten (C, So.) carried a .400 batting average as a freshman. Coach Powell said Patten, “has an A-plus arm.” This tandem of Hill and Patten will be tough to contend with for any Pirate opponent.
