OFFENSE
Meeker returns to the field with a highly dynamic offense, led by standout quarterback Treyvon Compton (5-11, 170, Sr.). “He is truly one of the best quarterbacks in the state, any classification. He has great arm strength and arm talent. He is able to make all of the throws with ease using multiple release angles,” head coach Allen Potts said. “He is a guy that is a great leader in the locker room as well.” The Bulldogs will operate a spread offense, utilizing multiple formations, motions, and personnel packages, under the direction of Potts. Compton will have reliable targets in wide receiver Manny Saavedra (5-11, 190, Sr.) and tight end Logan Devereaux (6-2, 220, Sr.). The offensive line is anchored by seniors Easton Flowers (6-3, 290, Sr.) and Houston Williams (6-3, 280, Sr.). “We utilize a physical gap-scheme run game. In the passing game, we use multiple sets and motions to attack defenses vertically with several different receivers,” Potts explained. With five returning starters, the Bulldogs are aiming for a robust offensive season.
DEFENSE
The Bulldogs’ defense will line up in a 4-2-5 base this season, while utilizing multiple fronts. The defense will focus on physicality and speed. “We will be big and physical upfront with athletes behind them,” Potts said. The defensive line features seniors Houston Williams (6-3, 280, Sr.) and Gavin Western (6-2, 290, Sr.), who are formidable forces in the trenches. The secondary will be anchored by senior Ayden Gonzales (5-11, 170, Sr.) and the versatile Treyvon Compton. The linebacker corps will be led by junior Keagan Edmonds (5-9, 170, Jr.) and sophomore sensation Roanon Wolford (6-1, 190, So.), who recorded 114 tackles last season. “A strength of our defense is our team speed and relentless pursuit of the ball,” Potts added. With five returning starters, Meeker’s defense is expected to be a formidable unit this season.
