VYPE: How did it feel to make the All-State swim team your senior year?
Piper McNeil: I was super excited to be able to have the chance to swim in high school one last time.
VYPE: What preparation or training measures did you take in order to be successful?
PM: I have a trainer who has helped me tremendously on the weight side of training for swimming and I incorporated more practices into my weekly schedule. I do doubles regularly and Saturday morning practices.
VYPE: What do you plan to focus on after high school?
PM: I plan on studying marketing and minoring in something business related to help pursue being a Medical Sales Representative while swimming at the University of Missouri.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
PM: To not back down from a challenge and to go the extra mile in whatever it may be in my daily life. It has also taught me time management since during the school year. I’m always traveling and having to balance school on top of training as well as doing normal high school activities.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
PM: I’m passionate in swimming because it keeps me accountable and knowing that I can achieve anything if I work hard enough for it.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
PM: Regan Smith, a professional swimmer, because she has so much fun while competing at the highest level while staying humble.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory in your sport?
PM: Winning high school state with my teammates and friends and seeing the hard work paying off. As well as competing at the U.S. Open and getting to compete against Olympian’sand world record holders.
VYPE: What is the best advice anyone has given you?
PM: To always be humble and not put too much pressure on yourself and allow yourself to not enjoy the sport anymore. When the joy is there, the success will follow along with it.
