Dale’s Jasmin Fox – Presented By Gordon Cooper Technology Center

By Chris Cox

Dale High School cheerleader Jasmin Fox has always had a passion for helping and teaching others. That is why Fox, a junior, decided to enroll in Gordon Cooper Technology Center’s Early Childhood Education program.

“The early childhood education program helps me figure out if teaching is really where I want to go in the future,” she says. “The program gives me a head start in getting involved in the childcare and teaching field. Overall, if I decided this is not the field I want to pursue, this program still offers amazing knowledge to have for life and having children in the future.”

Fox’s passion for children is obvious and it’s one of the things that she loves most about the program.

“My favorite part of the program is definitely being around the children,” she says. “They are so much fun and I’m learning so much at the same time. I love the people I have met throughout this experience. I have made strong relationships with not only the kids but also my teachers and peers.”

Fox’s instructor, Keri Laxton, is confident that Jasmin will be a successful early childhood educator because of her work ethic and attitude.

“Jasmin is very strong academically and uses her time well in her studies,” Laxton says. “From day one she stood out. She works full time and attends school full time. She is also very mature in the decisions she makes for herself and her future. She is amazing with the children she works with, provides developmentally sound activities, and is loving and kind. Jasmin gets along well with all of her peers and teachers. It is a joy to teach and train Ms. Jasmin to become a future educator.”

Jasmin is also a part of the student council at Dale, in the fine arts program, and involved in her church. Fox is part of FCCLA at Gordon Cooper. She recently won first place at the state FCCLA competition and will travel to Denver, CO, to compete in the national competition in July. Following graduation, Fox plans on working in the childcare field while attending college where she plans on majoring in education.
