Wewoka’s Eyan Norman – Presented By Natalie Arnett, State Farm

High school athletes have a kind of balancing act that they have to do in order to be successful. They have schoolwork to complete, practice to attend, and games to play. While this can be overwhelming for some, Wewoka’s Eyan Norman knows that you have to be prepared to be where you want to be.

“Learning to prioritize time management has been crucial for me,” he said. “Academics come before sports, so for me to do my best in sports I have to finish my academic responsibilities first. My passion for golf and baseball takes care of the rest.”

Norman is wrapping up his junior year at Wewoka High School. Along with being a member of the Tigers’ golf and baseball teams, he is also involved in the Future Farmers of America, Wewoka Junior Rotary Club, and the National Honor Society. Additionally, he is a concurrent student at Seminole State College.

When it comes to staying the course in his sports, Eyan has a few people that helped show him the way.
“My three older siblings have helped keep me motivated,” he said. “I grew up as the baby in the family and have always been blessed with successful older siblings who reach for the stars and influence me to do the same.”

While his siblings play a role, Norman has two other people that have been in his corner since day one and are always there for him.

“My mom and dad are my biggest influences,” he stated. “They work hard to make sure I am involved in what I’m passionate about and hold me accountable no matter what. My parents love me fiercely and I will never forget the sacrifices they have made to provide for our family.”

Knowing that work and preparation are important for success, Eyan says that practicing against others also helps him.

“I enjoy working with my cousin Jesse because we are on the same level in regard to sports and it makes it challenging to beat each other.”
